bmwmcrzy, most likely all of them are, if they are above $200 when is new. I have seen so many out there. The only thing is many of them have bad reviews.

When I had the 9500 it always picked up a cop car that was behind me with his radar on. Maybe the V1 has better range in that regard but I'm pretty sure most new radars pick up signals from behind.

they are picking up radar signals coming from the rear that are bouncing off a metal object in front of the radar detector. for laser, they have light guides pointed in the front and back that channel into the same sensor.

V1 is the only detector that has individual front and rear sensors for both radar and laser which gives it the ability to tell you if it's coming from the front or rear

IMO, you can't go wrong with either of the top models of V1, Escort, or Beltronics. A few members on here run V1s and Escort. I'm not sure if anyone runs Beltronics yet..

The Uniden R1 / R3 should be on the list ... it has the best range.
