Default In need of someone to check out an exhaust leak for me.

Had headers installed a couple months ago and had a minor leak shortly after installation. Just a ticking noise.

Just today, out of the blue, the leak got extremely loud, and you can just hear the air coming in and out of the car now. It whistles upon deceleration and it just sounds horrible. It needs to be fixed ASAP, otherwise I can't pass emissions.

It's hard to explain, but it's loud and doesn't sound good. I am 99.99% sure it's where the header meets the engine.

I'm not really looking to go to an indy shop for now. If all else fails, I'll probably just have to buy new headers, but I'd like to get the leak looked at first before anything just to be sure incase it's just an easy fix.

Any help is greatly appreciated. My cell is 847-636-0534.

Thanks

Take it to any exhaust shop. They'll put it up on a lift and identify it. Then throw them like $5 for their time and order OEM gaskets.

Also, if you're convinced it's the header, you can just take a box end wrench and check to see if any nuts on your header are loose. Don't tighten them past spec (24NM or 17.7ft-lbs for an e46m3, which is not very tight at all), just look to see if one or two have loosened up.

You're not too far from One-6 Motorsports, you might wanna give them a call, if you feel like driving further, any of the forum sponsor shops should be able to take care of it for you.
